Questex-Mclean Events is delighted to announce that Olympic hockey champion, Kate Richardson-Walsh OBE, will open proceedings on the first morning of SIBEC Europe.

The 2019 event takes place in at the prestigious Westin Dragonara Resort, Malta from 5-8 November 2019.

With a record 375 caps for her country, Richardson-Walsh was England and Great Britain captain for 13 years, culminating in winning a gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

An inspirational and charismatic leader, she has been widely credited for helping build the incredible team ethos and commitment that drove the GB team to a nail-biting victory in Rio. In winning gold, Richardson-Walsh also made history in other ways, becoming one half of the first same-sex married couple to win an Olympic medal playing in the same team.

Having retired from international hockey following Rio, Kate has turned her experience towards applying the leadership and performance lessons of a career in elite sport to the corporate environment, coaching and encouraging the grassroots development of the game. She currently serves as a Patron for the Women’s Sport Trust and UN Women, supports disability hockey as an ambassador for Access Sport, and sits on the International Hockey Federation’s Athlete’s Committee.

SIBEC attendees can look forward to an insightful speech about leadership, teamwork, accountability, integrity, support and the culture of a winning team.

David Zarb Jenkins, SIBEC Europe Event Director, says: “In a year where women’s sport has been elevated to new heights across the world, we are delighted to welcome an Olympic champion to SIBEC Europe and are excited to hear about Kate’s fascinating story.”

SIBEC Europe will bring together the UK and Europe’s major operators from the private, local authority and Trust markets in health, fitness and leisure, to meet with leading national and international suppliers to participate in a series of one-on-one meetings over two dedicated business days.
