World Class Wellness Experience To Debut In Swansea

Working in partnership with international fitness operator, UTime Fitness, Escape Fitness has been commissioned to design and deliver a 24-hour workout environment as part of true Swansea – a brand new ‘Student City’ concept from accommodation provider, true student, that offers 360 wellness through an ecosystem of experiences including UTime, doza pizzeria, outdoor riverside spaces and a ‘festival zone’ with slide.

true student, a brand owned by Bricks Group, will provide next-level affordable luxury to students in Swansea’s city centre, within walking distance of both the University of Wales Trinity St David and Swansea University. The Escape Fitness designed UTime  Fitness space will form a central part of this concept.

“At true student, we create dynamic lifestyle environments that put  wellness at the heart of the student experience” explains Ben Morley, Managing Director of true student. “We strive to surround students with market-leading tools and brands to keep up with their ever-changing lifestyles, so they can achieve their very best. Partnering with Escape Fitness for UTime enables us to exceed this vision.”

UTime Fitness, also a Bricks Group brand,  currently operates gyms in Hong Kong and Thailand. The  Swansea location will be its first in the UK.  With an ethos built around enabling individuals to be ‘The Best U’, UTime offers round-the-clock fitness solutions  both onsite and via an app.

Steven Wileman,  EVP Gym Operations at UTime Fitness, says: “Our model  provides free access to true students subsidised access to all other students and an affordable monthly fee for everyone else. Our aim is to encourage the whole community, regardless of ability or goal, to lead a more active, happier lifestyle. ”

The gym’s design is the result of a year-long, three-way collaboration between true student, UTime Fitness and Escape Fitness. The dedicated 467m2, ground-floor space will feel bright and spacious featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, and will be zoned into three distinct areas; a general workout space, a group exercise studio and a small group training space, to host an array of equipment led classes, including boxing-specific workouts.

Richard Burton, Senior Account Manager, Escape Fitness, says: “The general workout area, in addition to a selection of cardio equipment, will include a large functional training space complete with three customised Octagon half boxes, a Speed Track supported by an Escape Quad Sled, plus a selection of functional equipment to inspire Personal Trainers to deliver hundreds of bespoke workouts. We will also install two MARS 2.0 screens, giving access to digital coaching and equipment demonstrations 24/7, meaning nobody ever needs to train alone or unsupported, even outside of manned hours.”

“In the equipment-led small group training space, we will install an Octagon frame that can accommodate a wide selection of attachments including punchbags, TRX Suspension Trainers and  battle ropes, opening up almost limitless group training options. This space will also accommodate floor-based exercises. In the group exercise studio, Escape Fitness will also supply a number of DECKS and ECO Rep sets to support the group exercise programme, offering a huge variety of exercise options to accommodate the needs of the wider student population.

Ben Morley concluded: “We have already delivered projects with Escape Fitness in true Glasgow, Birmingham and Salford, so this is a flagship milestone  on our partnership journey. With their high quality, innovative equipment and design expertise, Escape is a great partner of choice for us as true and UTime expand across the UK.”
